About Palace Modern

As you step through the doors of Palace Modern, we hope that our reverence for the history of this place is immediately evident. We are honored to have become custodians of this very special piece of Santa Fe’s history. But the history of the partnership that brought this posada to fruition is also worth sharing.

Palace Modern was born out of a friendship that spans decades and has brought together people from diverse professional backgrounds to reimagine what lodging in this historic city can be. Drawing from the expertise of Kristin Anderson, Jim Heneghan and Jay Galván Heneghan in corporate marketing, software as a service, and healthcare/wellness, and housed in the aesthetic design of artist and homebuilder Seth Anderson, Palace Modern is the love child of this partnership that also pays homage to the city that has been home to this friendship for so long.

We hope you enjoy your experience as much as we have enjoyed creating it for you.

About the Space

The vision behind the transformation of this 1950s-era building into its current form is that of Seth Anderson Studio, headed by artist and custom home designer and builder, Seth Anderson.  Seth’s work advances the unique New Mexico vernacular to reflect a modern take on its historic roots.  Because Santa Fe specifically is an international community, he adapts spaces to this clientele while staying true to the regional culture and unique terrain by combining elements and materials to push these boundaries.

As with all his projects, Seth began this project by engaging the existing structure and its particular opportunities and constraints. By asking the site, location, and the compelling New Mexico light to determine the shape and vision for the project, each guest room captures a unique expression. The architecture is art, and the construction is sculpture.
